Only
Neil Simon could write a funny play from
the
story of Job! A tycoon, his wife and family, live
in
a mansion on Long Island. One night a
messenger
from God arrives with a big "G"
on
his shirt. Our modern Job won't
renounce
God, so a fire is set to wipe him out.
Everything
becomes a test of faith.
His
wife asks him how he can love a God who
makes
him suffer so. He gets an itch, then neuralgia,
tennis
elbow, and hemmorhoids. Having lost
everything,
God's messenger admits defeat
and
asks for a letter of recommendation!
